Legal and website information

Website Terms and Conditions

These terms govern use of the Insurance Dispute Service website. They are separate from any client care letter, terms of business or service agreement issued if we agree to act for you.

2. Accepting these terms

By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the website. These terms apply to the public website and its general information, forms and resources.

Any service we agree to provide is governed by separate written terms, including the scope of work, charges, cancellation rights, responsibilities, complaints procedure and regulatory information. If those service terms conflict with these website terms in relation to the service, the service terms take priority.

3. Website information is not individual advice

The website provides general information about insurance disputes, complaints, the Financial Ombudsman Service, negotiation, litigation and access to specialist professionals. It is not legal, financial, insurance or other professional advice tailored to your circumstances.

Insurance policies, evidence, contractual terms, complaint deadlines and court limitation periods vary. You should not act—or decide not to act—solely because of website content. Obtain advice appropriate to your matter where a decision may affect your rights.

Deadlines continue to run: contacting us, submitting a form or waiting for a review does not pause a policy deadline, complaint deadline, Financial Ombudsman time limit or court limitation period.

We take reasonable care over website content but do not promise that every page is complete, current or applicable to every jurisdiction or factual situation.

4. Free claim reviews and when a client relationship begins

A free initial review is a preliminary assessment based on the information available. It may help us understand the dispute and whether we may be able to offer a service. It is not a promise to take the matter, a guarantee that the claim is valid or a substitute for urgent advice.

Submitting a form, uploading information, speaking to us or receiving preliminary comments does not by itself create a client relationship or mean that we have agreed to protect a deadline. We become responsible for agreed work only when we confirm acceptance in writing and any required client care documents or service agreement have been completed.

We may decline a matter, request further information, identify a conflict or explain that another route or professional is more appropriate.

5. Claims-management and Ombudsman information

Insurance Dispute Service provides claims-management support only to the extent covered by Meridian Legal Services Limited’s regulatory permissions and the particular service agreed with the client. References to barristers, solicitors, experts or litigation do not mean that every service is supplied directly by us; roles and responsibilities will be explained before work begins.

You do not have to use a claims management company. You can complain directly to your insurer without paying us. If eligible and the insurer does not resolve the complaint, you may be able to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service yourself for free.

The Financial Ombudsman Service is independent of Insurance Dispute Service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or part of the Financial Ombudsman Service, the FCA or any insurer.

No outcome is guaranteed. Previous results, examples, testimonials or descriptions of possible routes do not predict the result of another case.

6. Information and documents you provide

You are responsible for taking reasonable care to ensure that information supplied through the website is accurate, complete and lawful to share. You should tell us promptly if important information changes or you discover an error.

You must not upload or send malicious software, unlawful content, material that infringes another person’s rights, or personal information that you have no lawful reason to disclose. Please do not send original documents or exceptionally sensitive information unless requested and an appropriate method has been agreed.

Sending material does not oblige us to review it within a particular period. Keep your own complete copies and continue to protect all applicable deadlines unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing.

7. Acceptable use and website security

You may use the website only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its server, forms, accounts or connected systems;
  • introduce viruses, harmful code, automated scraping tools or excessive traffic intended to disrupt the service;
  • use website content to mislead, impersonate another person or commit fraud;
  • copy, republish or commercially exploit substantial website content without written permission;
  • use the website in a way that infringes another person’s privacy, intellectual property or other legal rights.

We may restrict access, preserve evidence and report suspected unlawful activity where appropriate.

8. Intellectual property

Unless stated otherwise, Meridian Legal Services Limited owns or is licensed to use the website design, branding, written content, graphics, downloads and other materials. They are protected by copyright, trade mark and other intellectual-property laws.

You may view the website, print a reasonable extract and download material expressly made available for your own personal or internal business use. You must not alter it, remove ownership notices, present it as professional advice supplied by you or use it commercially without prior written permission.

10. Website availability, responsibility and liability

We may suspend, change or withdraw website content or functionality without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access, that the website will be free from harmful code, or that material will always remain available.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss caused by reliance on general website information, inability to access the website, third-party content or misuse of the website. We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Nothing in these terms affects mandatory consumer rights or any responsibility owed under a separate service agreement.

11. Privacy, changes, governing law and contact

We handle personal information as explained in our Privacy Policy and use cookies as explained in our Cookie Policy.

We may change these website terms to reflect changes in the website, our services or the law. The updated terms apply from the date published on this page.

These terms and any non-contractual dispute arising from website use are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, but if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts where you live.

Questions about these terms can be emailed to info@insurancedisputeservice.co.uk or sent to Insurance Dispute Service, 34–35 Butcher Row, Shrewsbury, SY1 1UW.
