Original source cells cover approximately 65 km² and can contain varying ground conditions. The map provides a regional overview. It does not assess an individual postcode, house or building site.
BGS states that this information is not suitable for local or site-specific analysis. Using a postcode to navigate the coarse overview in this preview is our implementation; it is not a BGS-endorsed assessment method.
The data concerns ground that may shrink or swell. It does not cover every cause of subsidence, identify the cause of existing cracks, or provide live information about weather or ground movement. This dataset dates from 2019.
Coverage is Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man are outside this dataset. A property-specific assessment requires appropriate professional investigation.
